Currach makes its single malts with a new and innovative production method that makes it the first whiskey in the world to use barrels charred with different types of algae. This version is made with seaweed from the Irish Atlantic, kombu seaweed. This seaweed is a variety of brown seaweed found in the lower part of the shore and is harvested during low spring tides. These algae are dried so that they can be used to carbonize the inside of the barrels where this particular Irish single malt finishes its maturation process. Kombu-charred barrels create the perfect union between the land and the Irish Sea, resulting in a whiskey with a delicate umami flavor.

NOSE : toffee and raisins with hints of almond, accompanied by an aroma of toasted kombu seaweed.

PALATE : flavors of roasted Arabic coffee mixed with salted caramel and dark chocolate notes complemented by light smokiness, saline nuances and umami sensation.

FINISH : The deep flavors fade to leave a persistent and delicately sweet maritime finish. of honey and vanilla combined with hints of apple and subtle notes of peat.
